About The Ibsen Effect
The Ibsen Effect is a podcast from Oslo English Players, exploring how Henrik Ibsen’s work continues to function in performance today.
Through conversations with actors, directors, scholars, and theatre-makers, the podcast looks at Ibsen from the inside out—through rehearsal processes, interpretation, and lived experience on stage. We are interested in how his plays change across languages, cultures, and contemporary contexts, and what they continue to ask of artists and audiences.
The podcast reflects Oslo English Players’ mission to make theatre that is accessible, relevant, and engaged with the present, and to open up thoughtful conversations around classic texts without treating them as fixed or untouchable.
